DC Restaurant Week Comes to Rockville, Back to School Safety, Time to 'Wine' Down: The Daily Digest

What's happening in Rockville on Thursday, Aug. 15.

Back to School| U.S. Rep. Chris Van Hollen to attend back-to-school event
The first day of school is Aug. 26 for public schools in Montgomery County. So Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service, U.S. Rep. Chris Van Hollen and other public safety advocates are hosting a back-to-school safety event 9:30 a.m. Thursday at Fitzgerald Auto Mall. There will be demonstrations on pedestrian safety, proper child safety seat installations and school bus safety.

Montgomery County will host a 100,000 Homes Campaign Volunteer Kick-Off on Monday at the Health and Human Services building at 401 Hungerford Drive Rockville (in the first-floor, tan conference room). They’re hoping to get 300 volunteers to help in a county-wide survey of homeless people in the county. >>> Details: MCCH.net/endhomelessness/homescampaign.html
