BEGIN:VCALENDAR PRODID;X-RICAL-TZSOURCE=TZINFO:-//com.denhaven2/NONSGML ri_cal gem//EN CALSCALE:GREGORIAN VERSION:2.0 BEGIN:VEVENT DESCRIPTION:The Rockville High School Pipe Band presents the 44th Annual National Capital Area Scottish Festival on May 12\, 2012. \; This an nual fundraising concert showcases anauthentic program of Scottish Pipe Bands\, piping and drumming\, and traditional Irish and Scottish dancing . \;\nThe Festival will take place at Rockville High School\, 2100 B altimore Road\, Rockville\, MD 20851\, on Saturday May 12\, 2012 from 2: 00 p.m. until 4:30 p.m in the gymnasium\,  \;Admission is $7 for adu lts\, $5 for seniors\, and $1 for children. \; \; \; \;& nbsp\;The doors will open at 1:00 p.m. for a Scottish bake sale\, raffle s\, silent auctions\, and children&rsquo\;s activities. All proceeds wil l benefit the Rockville High School Pipe Band\, a self supporting extra- curricular activity.\nThe Festival is hosted by the Rockville High Schoo l Pipe Band. The Rockville High School Pipe Band was originally formed i n 1961 at Robert E. Peary High School in Rockville\, Maryland. The Pipe Band was the first and only high school pipe band in the state of Maryla nd. The Band was based at Peary High School until 1984\, when theschool was closed. \; In the 1984-1985 academic year the Pipe Band moved to Rockville \; High School and hasremained there since. Members of th e band range in age from 11 to 18\, and many move into college and adult pipe bands upon graduation. The Pipe Band memberscompete regularly in i ndividual competitions\, often walking away with toptrophies.\nThis year &rsquo\;s performers at the festival include the world-renowned Grade 1 City of Washington Pipe Band\, MacMillan Pipe Band\, MacMillan Birtles M emorial PipeBand\, Rockville High School Pipe Band\, Scottish country da ncing will be performed by the Scottish Country Dance Society of Washing ton\, and Irish dancing by theCulkin School of Irish Dance.
