Montgomery Preservation Inc. (MPI) is Montgomery County’s only county-wide nonprofit historic preservation organization. Incorporated in 1984 the organization actively encourages and defends preservation efforts in the county and surrounding communities. In 2002 MPI returned to the public a totally restored Silver Spring B&O RR station at 8100 Georgia Avenue. The station site is on the National Register of Historic places and represents more than 120 years of continuous passenger rail service by the B&O, AMTRAK, and MARC rail history.

About Seraphim: Founded in 1983, Seraphim have been delighting the Washington area with sweet sounds and warmly blended harmonies for many years. Seraphim perform regularly at the Maryland Renaissance Festival and have sung at the White House, Constitution Hall, Tudor Place, Old Heurich Mansion, Woodlawn Plantation and numerous commercial establishments. Seraphim’s voices are Kathy, Martha, Phyllis, and Charlotte.
Walking Tour Downtowne Silver Spring, 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Join Silver Spring Historical Society president Jerry A. McCoy on a walking tour to the spring after which our community was named and other historic sites surrounding the B&O RR Station. McCoy is the author of Historic Silver Spring (2005) and Downtown Silver Spring (2010), both by Arcadia Publishing. Cost $5.00. RESERVATIONS ARE REQUIRED.
