Writopia Lab (www.WritopiaLab.org) is an award-winning non-profit organization that holds creative writing workshops for kids and teens ages 8-18.
This summer, we are offering special week-long intensive workshops for high school students who are writing personal essays for scholarships and/or college admissions.
HOW WE WORK:
* Workshops meet daily Monday-Friday for 3-hour afternoon or evening sessions.
* Each workshop enrolls a maximum of 6 participants and is led by a published writer and experienced high school or college writing teacher.
* Students should bring any essay prompts they have been given, and/or we can provide prompts that would suit most applications.
* Through a fun, collaborative workshop format, we will help students:
- brainstorm,
- plan,
- draft,
- revise, and
- polish their essays.
* Students will leave with pieces they are proud of and excited to submit!
Students will also be invited to submit their work to our online magazine and to read at Barnes and Noble in September.

More About Johns Hopkins University - Montgomery County Campus
Johns Hopkins University - Montgomery County Campus
Best-known for its flagship campus and world-renowned medical center in Baltimore, Johns Hopkins's campus in Montgomery County hosts evening classes for 4,000 graduate students in the Carey Business School, the School of Education, the Whiting School of Engineering and the Zanvyl Kreiger School of Arts and Sciences.
The 215,000-square-foot campus has big plans that include an ultimate expansion to 2.6 million square feet that will put thousands of academics, researchers and entrepreneurs on a single campus.
The campus is part of the Great Seneca Science Corridor Master Plan approved by the Montgomery County Council in 2010. As such, it is a cornerstone of county efforts to build a "Science City" that aims to foster collaborations between higher education, government and industry.
