DESCRIPTION:The Washington Nationals will host ALS Awareness Night on Jul
 y 6\, 2012 at Nationals Park in conjunction with third baseman Ryan Zimm
 erman receiving the Lou Gehrig Memorial Award for his service throughout
  the community. The first pitch will be thrown at 7:05pm against the Col
 orado Rockies.\nThe ALS Association &ndash\; DC/MD/VA Chapter will be on
  site during the game and a person living with ALS (PALS) will be on the
  field prior to the first pitch with ALS Association &ndash\; DC/MD/VA C
 hapter Executive Director Ronnie Gunnerson during the awards ceremony fo
 r Zimmerman. The Lou Gehrig Memorial Award will be presented by Phi Delt
 a Theta International. The Lou Gehrig Memorial Award is the only officia
 l award in Major League Baseball that is given by a fraternity. The ALS 
 Association is the National Philanthropy of the Phi Delta Theta fraterni
 ty for chapters on campuses across the United States. Lou Gehrig\, for w
 hom the disease is named\, was a member of Phi Delta Theta at Columbia U
 niversity in 1925. Lou Gehrig passed away from ALS on June 2\, 1941 afte
