President Obama accepts the Democratic National Convention’s invitation to run for a second term.
The Democratic Convention cancelled President Barack Obama’s acceptance speech in Charlotte's Bank of America Stadium due to bad weather. In the meantime, the president is at work on his speech in a North Carolina hotel room.

From now on, I'm going to play it straight with you. Want Social Security benefits? The 33% payroll tax cut was a bad idea. I'm not going to renew it. There is no free lunch. There is no Social Security fairy. From now on, we set prioritize, pay for the things we need, and stop picking our children's pockets. Oh yeah. Joe Biden's out. I want someone capable of handling the big chair.
