Richard Montgomery took a 13-0 halftime lead and scored again late to seal a 20-13 victory over Wootton in a cross-town high school football rivalry on Friday in Rockville Town Center.

Wootton’s Sam Ellis put up one of the area’s top passing performances, going 17 for 30 for 184 yards with a touchdown and an interception in the loss, according to The Washington Post.

Richard Montgomery’s Steven Burchett (126 yards on 14 carries, 6 for 8 passing for 85 yards) and Jesse Brent (103 yards on 21 carries) led the Rockets offense, The Post reported.

The teams have identical records but for now appear headed in opposition directions.

After getting their first win of the season at Clarksburg on Sept. 14, Richard Montgomery (2-2) takes a two-game winning streak on the road to face Kennedy at 2 p.m. on Saturday.

Wootton (2-2) will look to rebound from a two-game skid when the Patriots travel to Bethesda to take on Walter Johnson at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
