The long-awaited opening of a grocery in Rockville Town Square is almost here.

Dawson’s Market announced Wednesday that it will open Sept. 29.

The opening features two days of festivities:

6:30 p.m.: holds, featuring Mambo Combo.

7 p.m.: Dedication of the Dawson’s Market Pavilion in , featuring Rockville Mayor Phyllis Marcuccio, Dawson’s Market owner Rick Hood and Robin McBride, vice president and chief operating officer of .

7:45 p.m.: The public gets its first look inside Dawson’s Market with a sneak peek.

Saturday, Sept. 29

7 a.m.: Dawson’s Market opens for business.

10 a.m. to 4 p.m.: Grand opening festivities include:

  • A cookie decorating station and other kid-friendly activities outside the store, sponsored by .
  • The chance for kids age 5 to 12 to design Dawson’s Market’s next paper bag graphic.
  • Live music on the Dawson's Market patio.
  • The chance to win a $75 Dawson’s Market gift card in the “Name That Produce” contest.

11 a.m. to 7 p.m.: Free samples in the store throughout the day.
