Rockville Rivals: CakeDreams vs. The Cakery

Who has the better cupcakes?

Who has the best cupcakes in Rockville? We want your opinion.

This is the debut of a new feature called "Rockville Rivals," where we ask readers to visit our "Places" section and weigh in on what they like best.

You don't have to be a professional critic, just jot down a few thoughts on what you like (or don't like) about the selected places.

Here is how to play:

1 Create a free Patch login, if you don't already have one, by clicking on “Log In” at the upper right of this page.

2. Click the links below to visit the listings in our Places directory.

Today’s matchup:

In this corner, from King Farm Boulevard: The Cakery at King Farm.

And in this corner, from West Montgomery Avenue: CakeDreams.

Write a review at the bottom of the page where prompted. What makes it your favorite? Frosting vs. cake ratio? Flavor choices? Artistry?

3. The place with the most reviews by Monday, Sept. 26 will be declared the winner. Click here for Patch contest rules terms of service.

4. Cupcakes not your thing? Use the comment box below to let us know other “Rivals” matchups that you’d like to see.

My son loves the Cakery's cupcakes. I personally have not tried one yet, but my 8 year old can't get enough of them and asks to go there all the time. So, considering what a finicky kid he is (he even hates chocolate if you can believe it, so he isn't just an I'll take any sweets any time kind of kid) I chose to believe his raves and say - The Cakery is the winner! Adin always gets the vanilla cupcake - and he tells me the whole thing is great!

Few cupcakers do carrot cupcakes and my husband tried one at the Cakery and said it was terrific. I've had cupcakes at both cake dreams and the Cakery wins for sure.

I never met a cupcake I didn't like, but some are really better than others. I been there, done it with Cake Dreams, but the all time favorite is the new and delightful Cakery. Their custom made cakes are also the very best. The Cakery has my vote!
