Rockville Driver Involved in Fatal Gaithersburg Car Crash

A woman was killed Sunday in a collision on Great Seneca Highway at Lakelands Drive in the Kentlands, according to Montgomery County police.

 

A Rockville woman was driving a car involved in a fatal crash Sunday evening on Great Seneca Highway at Lakelands Drive in the Kentlands area of Gaithersburg, Montgomery County police said in a news release

Elizabeth Colvin Colton, 69, of the 200 block of Hart Road in Gaithersburg, died in the two-car collision, police said.

A preliminary investigation revealed that Rachel Leah Weintraub, 21, of the 13600 block of Anchor Cove Court in Rockville, was driving a 2003 Toyota Highlander south on Great Seneca Road when it struck a northbound 1999 black Lexus LS 400 that was attempting to make a left turn onto Lakelands Drive. The two vehicles collided in the intersection, police said.

Colton was a passenger in the Lexus, which was driven by 77-year-old Seymour Baden, police said. Baden, of the same address as Colton, remains in critical condition.

George Dancer, 25, of the 14100 block of Marianne Drive in Rockville, was a passenger in the Toyota, police said. Both Weintraub and Dancer were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The crash occurred at 7:49 p.m. and temporarily closed southbound Great Seneca Highway between Lakelands Drive and Kentlands Boulevard.

Assistant Chief Scott Graham, of the county fire and rescue service, said "an extensive extrication" was required, ABC 7 reported.

Investigators are asking anyone who witnessed this collision to contact the county police department’s Collision Reconstruction Unit at 301-840-2435.
