Reports: Jobs Up in Maryland

The good news: Maryland added thousands of jobs between June 2011 and June 2012.
The so-so news: Maryland's job growth rate puts it in the middle of national job growth rankings—number 23 out of 50 states and the District of Columbia.
The Baltimore Business Journal reports that 28,200 jobs were added in Maryland this year, based on data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. That number is a 1.1 percent bump from last year.
Maryland is one of 44 states and DC that added jobs, bizjournals.com reported. With more than a quarter-million new jobs, California had the greatest number of jobs added, but North Dakota achieved the greatest percentage increase in jobs at 6.5 percent.
The most recent unemployment data shows that Maryland lost 11,000 jobs in June and reached a 6.9 percent unemployment rate. That’s still lower than the national average of 8.3 percent, according to Baltimore Business Journal.
