Frugal Family: Help for the Family Budget
Deals for the hungry, for staying healthy and for saying 'I love you'
We're all watching our family budgets these days. Whether shopping with coupons or looking for two-for-one deals, we're taking advantage of all sorts of offers and savings that help us stretch our dollars.
This column will be dedicated to giving you five great local deals each week that will help your family’s bottom line, and since we do the scouting for you, you can save time as well as money.
You are a big part of this column. Let us hear about the deals you've seen. Just add them to our comment box.
Then come back each week and see what we've uncovered together.
This week, Frugal Family scoured our local sources to come up with great deals on meals, ways to keep your family healthy, and flowers (remember, Valentine's Day is approaching).
There's nothing like a great piece of pizza to keep you going, and Slice of Rockville rocks a Monday-through-Friday lunch special. From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., score two slices of cheese pizza, or two slices of the "Slice of the Day" and a fountain drink for $4.99.
It's hard to think about swimming when we can’t leave the house without hats and scarves, but pool season will be here before we know it. Children of deployed servicemen and servicewomen are eligible for free swimming lessons. Call for details.
There’s no better time than winter to get your family moving. Check out Fitness For Health’s open house from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Sunday. Learn about their innovative children’s programs, meet their trainers, and check out their state-of-the-art facility.
Valentine’s Day is two weeks away. A discount on an arrangement for your sweetheart will make those flowers smell that much sweeter. Call 301-984-3565 or toll-free 888-544-3637 and for the entire month of February, enter the code 1234 for 10 percent off of your arrangement.
Lucy features clothes to make women feel and look great during a workout. Laura White will be at the store hosting a free tai chi class at 9 a.m. on Saturday.
