'If I Were Mayor' Essay Contest Open for Entries
The winner wins a lunch date with Mayor Phyllis Marcuccio.
The City of Rockville is asking local fourth graders what they'd do if they had Mayor Phyllis Marcuccio's job.
Contest rules are posted on the city's website:
"Write an 275-word essay and fill out the entry form and send it in to City Hall (111 Maryland Ave. Rockville, MD 20850) by no later than March 30, 2012.
The winner wins a lunch with Mayor Phyllis Marcuccio, a tour of City Hall and a spot in the 2012 Memorial Day Parade. Each year, the Maryland Municipal League (MML) and the Maryland Mayors Association (MMA) invite fourth-grade students throughout the state to participate in the essay contest.
One winning essay will be selected from each of the MML’s 11 regional districts throughout the state. The 11 winners will be recognized at a ceremony in May in Annapolis.
In addition to the winners chosen by MML and the MMA, the Mayor and Council will select their own fourth-grade winner attending a school in Rockville. The winner will be the Mayor of Rockville for a day."
