Best Friends Pet Care Angel Tree Supports Humane Society

For the 11th year, the pet care store's holiday donation drive supports needy animals.

A decorated tree in the lobby of every store offers customers a way to help homeless dogs and cats this holiday season.

Hanging on the Angel Tree are paper ornaments with holiday wishes of food, toys and treats for needy animals under the care of the Montgomery County Humane Society.

Animal lovers are invited to select an ornament and donate the listed holiday gifts. The pets featured are available for adoption.

“The holiday season is always difficult for our local animal shelters,” Best Friends manager Amy Hawks said in a news release announcing the 11th annual holiday donation drive. “Donations of food and funds fall off because we are all preoccupied with the holidays. The poor economy over the past several years has made matters even worse. Shelter volunteers tell us that they really depend upon our Angel Tree program to get through the holiday season.”

Donations can be made at the Best Friends Pet Care store at 5530 Randolph Road in Rockville, or by calling 301-770-5446 by Jan. 2.
