Good that this turned out without serious incident. It is that time of year where families are in great stress and many are depressed. We must watch out for each other and help where we can. I was driving down Gude Drive when I heard so many police cars raise down the street. Then there was a backup on Viers Mill Road. Little did I know the cars were raising to my neighborhood and families were worried about their children being safe.
The other night I spoke with a friend who was depressed and couldn't tell me what the depression was about. I contacted his sister to let her know about our hour conversation and that I believe that my dear friend could use some counseling as I did when I got my divorce. I hope my suggestion will help. Will know later.

The "nearby church" used as a staging area is also the home of Redwood Montessori Academy, a private school for children from age 2 through Elementary. While our students were in no danger, it was quite a shock for parents to come for dismissal and find blocked roads, police tape, and an overwhelming number of police cars and other emergency vehicles in the parking lot and the access road! Parents arrived panic-stricken, thinking that something terrible had happened at their child's school. But our children were safe and well cared for and went home without incident. I wish we could have provided the same comfort for our parents!

I received an email from Twinbrook Elementary stating that there was an incident on Okinawa Avenue, that it "did not impact the school at all", and that parents of walkers who likve on Okinawa were called to pick up their students at dismissal time. I had no idea this kind of ordeal went on. Notices should be a little more forthcoming. Such a vague message makes the imagination wander. Is there a listserv or mailing list for the Twinbrook Community that is limited to topics of police activity and crime in the neighborhood?
