An Armed Robbery, Burglaries and Thefts from Vehicles in County Police Reports

Incidents from July 31 to Aug. 6, according to county police.

 

 

The following is compiled from Montgomery County Police Department crime summaries. Arrests do not imply guilt.

Maryland Avenue and Prospect Hill Place: An armed robbery occurred at 8:14 p.m. on Aug. 6. The suspect bumped into the victim from behind and implied a gun was under his shirt. He obtained $10 and fled on foot towards Monument Street.  

600 block of Azalea Drive: A commercial burglary occurred between noon and 3:43 p.m. on Aug. 3. Unforced entry. Cash taken.

Wick Lane, Kipling Road and Oak Meadow Drive, in Derwood: Multiple thefts from vehicles overnight Aug. 1-2. All from unlocked vehicles. Cash was the main target. One victim reported compact discs taken. No one was seen in any of the thefts.

1699 Rockville Pike: A commercial burglary occurred at Matchbox between 4:11 and 4:35 a.m. on Aug. 6. Unforced entry. Cash taken. The suspect was caught on a surveillance video.  
Suspect description: A male of an unknown race, 5 feet 7 inches to 5 feet 10 inches, 175 to 190 pounds, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and sweat pants.

200 block of East Argyle Street: A theft from vehicle occurred between 7 p.m. on July 31 and 5:30 a.m. on Aug. 1. Windows broken. Took cash and loose property.

200 block of Monroe Street: A theft from vehicle occurred between 11 p.m. on July 31 and 10 a.m. on Aug. 1. Windows broken. Took a laptop computer.

130 Rollins Avenue: Two thefts from vehicles occurred in the lower level of the garage. Both had a window broken.

  • Between 5:30 p.m. on Aug. 5 and 6:15 p.m. on Aug. 6. Cell phone charger taken.
  • Between 10:15 a.m. and 9 p.m. on Aug. 6. GPS unit and sunglasses taken.

2300 block of Henslowe Drive: A residential burglary occurred between 11:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Aug. 3. Unknown means of entry. Wallet taken.

1445 Research Blvd.: A commercial burglary occurred at the Plaza Deli between Aug. 3 and Aug. 6. Forced entry. Property and cash taken.

13700 block of Lakewood Court: Two attempted thefts from vehicles occurred between 3 and 3:25 a.m. on Aug. 2.

In the first instance, the victim saw the first suspect in one of his vehicles and went outside. The suspect fled on foot, met up with the other suspect and they ran off. Three vehicles were searched but nothing was taken.

In the second instance, two vehicles were searched but nothing was taken.
